The International Energy Agency has released a report that suggests the supply of natural gas could last 250 years http://wattsupwiththat.com/2011/01/21/shale-gas-boom-on/#more-32108 at current rates of consumption.

For electrical power systems planners and policy developers, the rapid expansion of accessible natural gas reserves and the declining cost of production creates a new factor to consider in the future.  Perhaps it is time to slow down public sector and public policy efforts to stimulate a migration to expensive technologies such as solar.
