Simpson on Universities

Jeffrey Simpson contributes his two cents to the university debate.

While his commentary is useful, it does mix up the concept of inputs and outcomes.  If we genuinely want to reform the effectiveness of universities and their ability to deliver effective undergraduate education, we will make the fees they receive dependent on the increased earning capacity of their graduates.  If university professors and executives had their majority of their income determined by how well their graduates perform in the job market, perhaps the meat grinder model of undergraduate education may be re-thought
