BC HST – Moving Onto Plan B

Now that the BC voters have reject the HST, it is time for the government to move onto a new plan to update the PST to account for the service economy.  As mentioned in the article, one tactic is to follow the Saskatchewan model and gradually expand the PST to include more services over time.

The other administrative reform would be to expand the range of goods and services that are used as business inputs that could be exempted from taxation.  A good starting point would be to refund the PST on all capital asset purchases.
