Two years ago the Kamloops Mass Graves Story shocked the country. A researcher suggested that 215 soil disturbances at the site of the former Kamloops Residential School might possibly be graves of missing children. Politicians rushed to recognize the worst possibilities: flags at federal office buildings (including embassies world-wide) were placed at half mast for over 6 months and a National holiday was declared – National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30th. Despite the claims, no efforts have been made to conduct a forensic investigation at the alleged grave site. Recent information indicates that the soil disturbances in question are the remains of an abandoned septic field.
