Thank You for Smoking

I appear on Alberta Primetime tonight debating the role of government in smoking regulations. I argue that while smoking is bad and the federal government’s new regulations requiring bigger warning labels on cigarette packets (they will be required to cover 75 per cent of the package, up from the current 50) will likely reduce smoking, the policy reflects a dangerous attitude that the state is responsible for the totality of our thinking.
