This week, the Frontier Centre released a new study showing that European experiments with centrally planned “green job” creation schemes have generally failed to produce positive outcomes. Instead of creating jobs and generating economic growth, “green jobs” initiatives in Spain, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, Denmark and the Netherlands have created a number of adverse impacts including net job losses, higher energy prices and rampant corruption.
The study’s findings were a central focus of George Jonas’ column in the National Post this week.
The authors of the new paper, Dr. Kenneth P. Green of the American Enterprise Institute and the Frontier Centre’s Ben Eisen also have a column in yesterday’s Calgary Beacon in which they summarize the results of their research.
