Winnipeg – 19 February 2013 – The Frontier Centre for Public Policy is pleased to announce that the first five videos in its new education reform series will be broadcast nationwide on Byline on Sun TV at 9pm ET each night this week.

Co-produced with the Atlantic Institute for Market Studies (AIMS), the Common Sense Education video series gives parents, teachers and students a direct window into some of the thoughtless fads that afflict our public education system.

Each video in the series covers a different education question and directly tackles prevalent problems in our schools. The first episode begins with a hard-hitting exposé of the anti-knowledge curriculum approach that dominates our public schools. Subsequent episodes address topics such as absurd no-zero policies, confusing “new math” textbooks, and overbearing teachers’ unions.

The series is written and narrated by Frontier’s research fellow and high school teacher Michael Zwaagstra, who is co-author of the popular book, What's Wrong With Our Schools And How We Can Fix Them. Through his many media appearances and widely distributed columns, Mr. Zwaagstra has shown he is someone who is not afraid to challenge the educational establishment.

“Common sense is needed now more than ever in our school system and these videos show how we can change our schools for the better. It’s time we stand up to the edu-babble that pervades our education system,” said Mr. Zwaagstra.

Anyone wishing to know what is really going on in our public schools needs to watch Common Sense Education.
