Graham Lane, Former Chair of the Manitoba Public Utilities Board, to Discuss the Risks and Gambles of Expanding Manitoba Hydro’s Hydro-electric Generation and Transmission Capacity at the Frontier Centre for Public Policy
WINNIPEG, MANITOBA– (June 5, 2013) — Today, Graham Lane, the former Chair of the Manitoba Public Utilities Board, will give a special address to a sold-out audience assessing the expansion of Manitoba Hydro’s Hydro-electric Generation and Transmission Capacity.
In this talk entitled “Dam-nation: Rolling the Dice on Manitoba’s Future — Why Hydro’s $20-billion Gamble May Bankrupt Manitoba,” Lane warns Hydro’s expansion is the greatest economic gamble in Manitoba’s history. He suggests that the current policy course is recklessly driven by political interests, ideology, spent money and commitments ignoring that the economic and political environment that spawned the plan before 2008 has changed dramatically.
A media table will accommodate members of the press during the speech. A photo opportunity with special media availability for questions will be held immediately after the luncheon talk.
Graham Lane’s address is hosted by the Frontier Centre for Public Policy.
