The Saskatchewan government has issued an RFP to contract for the delivery of day surgery procedures.
I hope this approach works for Saskatchewan and helps people avoid the 15 month waiting period that I encountered between seeing my primary GP and finally getting the surgery. The added costs to my farming operation related to being disabled during that period exceeded $20,000. That is a cost that the health system cannot appear to be able to include in their cost-benefit analysis methods. Two years later, I am still attempting to pay off the loans incurred because of that situation instead of investing in expanding production.
