Peter Foster has taken a shot at the plan to phase out conventional light bulbs.
For my situation down on the farm, the big problem with CFC’s is they do not work well in cold weather unless one buys a bulb that is much more expensive. Even then, the level of light emitted declines over time so that after one year of operation, they put out much less light.
When it comes to producing light in my shop in the winter, having a bulb that also produces heat is not a bad thing. Being able to get full light output on a flick of a switch is also desirable.
At the end of the day, a product ban is a bad idea. If the government must distort the market, please do it through excise taxes on the “inefficient” products. Better yet, let the market forces rule.
