Can the problems of our publicly run health care system be better illustrated than having a bizarre situation of long wait list times for orthopedic surgery while new surgeons cannot find employment?
Lou Halpern has been waiting almost four years to have deformities on his feet repaired. “It’s absolutely mind boggling,” said Mr. Halpern, 63, the owner of two manufacturing firms in Brampton, Ont. “The impression is that there’s a shortage of doctors. It’s a shame I would have to wait so many years when there are doctors available.”
Will some government, any government please wake up and start contracting out work to private clinics so supply and demand can meet instead of being obstructed by inflexible bureaucratic planning systems?
