In Winnipeg, there is a disagreement between the union and the company about how timely mail in being delivered.
Perhaps one method to deal with this issue is to reduce the frequency of at home delivery and offer affected customers with the option to pick up mail more frequently at other locations such as a super box or a depot. This shift to a less costly delivery system could even be encouraged by offering participating customers a few free stamps per month.
As far as the union concerns about privatizing deliver, as far as I am concerned, bring it on. Let’s contract that function out on a performance-based model. The union of course would be allowed to bid on that work, but they would have to compete on both cost and performance.
