It is time to review the role of Canada Mortgage and Housing in the Canadian economy

I agree that it is time to review the role of Canada Mortgage and Housing in the Canadian economy.  I am not willing to comment whether or not they are meeting their mandate effectively, but a mandate, effectiveness and efficiency review should be in order the government reviews its spending priorities.

In particular, there needs to be some deep thinking about the balance between labour mobility and home ownership.  Does it make sense for CMHC to be encouraging home ownership in regions of high unemployment?
