The Occupy Movement moves on to occupy homes.
The start of this whole mess was government intervention to encourage and subsidize home ownership among people who could not afford that option. What the USA needs today is a movement to convert repossessed properties into affordable rental housing.
I hope this movement will move both the financial system and the government to figure out how to make housing stock available instead of tearing it down. With that hope, perhaps the Occupier’s 1% good idea is worth pursuing.
Across North America we need some good ideas about how to deal with affordable housing challenges.
